Why the name Steeplechase Beer Garden & what's with the funny face? It all starts with George C. Tilyou back in the 1870s.
The funny face: Legend has it that's George's brother, Edward met a caricature artist in the Coney Island Bowery and this is what was drawn. George remarked "that's a funny face" ... hard to say if it bears any likeness so you be the judge!
Steeplechase Beer Garden proudly sits on the land of George C. Tilyou's original Steeplechase Amusement Park.
